Summary

According to the authors of this publication, a child in a multilingual environment requires an unusual perspective of the research. On the one hand, it imposes the need to seek common points of reference for the description of language functioning of children in various forms of bilingualism, on the other hand emphasizes the value of reaching what is individual and unique. Unusual in this work is the recognition of speech therapy aspects of bilingualism, scientific reflection donators many open questions and posing in front of our pan-European speech therapy problems. Detailed linguistic issues related to the problems described here, including hearing and phonetic awareness and activity in an environment of growing children in two languages. Numerous references to the English-language literature is a valuable source of information about the environments in which bilingualism has become the norm long time ago.
