Aim of the activity

To compare the meanings of an idea in more than one language.



Preparation for the activity

None – the activities create inspiration within the everyday activities of the family
languages.



Procedure

The parents choose a song that exists in more than one language, e.g.: “Panie Janie” or “Old Mc Donald”. Sing with the children first in one language and then in the next. A possible source is lullabies from the EU project LULLABIES OF EUROPE in 7 languages.



Significant benefit of the activity

Singing is fun, makes the language input more interesting and broadens language awareness.

Canons as well as other songs are known in many countries and languages to support children’s language acquisition.
